Guide to Application for 2016 Panasonic Scholarship in India

At Panasonic, our business objectives are aligned with our commitment toward contributing to the society. Guided by our basic management objectives which recognize our responsibility as a corporate, we devote ourselves to the progress and development of the society and the well-being of people through our business activities.

Keeping in line with its commitment to give access to quality education to people, Panasonic Corporations had established the Panasonic scholarship program in 1998 to commemorate the company™s 80th anniversary, as a way for the company to contribute towards the growth of the society. In its first edition, the program was launched in India in 2009 and was termed Panasonic Ratti Chhatr Scholarship. Since the program™s launch in India, eight scholars have been selected and enrolled for the master™s program in Japan, and three scholars from the 2009 batch who graduated last year have been hired by leading multinational brands in Japan.

Owing to the immense potential of the Indian education sector and quality of education of the engineering and business schools in India, starting this year, there has been a paradigm shift in the objective and execution of Panasonic ˜Ratti Chhatr Scholarshi™ program and its newer version will now provide financial aid to the talented undergraduate students from across fifteen IITs and encourage them to pursue their higher education in the country itself

The current version of the Panasonic Ratti Chhatr Scholarship program identifies and recognizes a pool of unexplored talent, specifically from the low income groups, and provides them with financial assistance to create experts who can contribute towards the progress of the nation. Until last year the scholars were selected and enrolled for the masters program in Japan, but starting this year, there is a shift in the program which is consistent with Panasonic’s philosophy of adopting and encouraging localization, thereby contributing toward the economic development in the country and giving back to the society in which it operates. This is a step further to retain country’s best talent in order to drive growth and create a positive impact within the country for many years to come.

We at Panasonic strive to work towards inclusive growth of the society, contributing to the sustainable development, by working with the employees, their families and the local community. The scholarship program is a step further to invest in the young Indian talent and reiterate company's efforts to promote talented and high performing individuals. Over the next four years, the scholarship program will reach out to close to hundred and twenty students, wherein Panasonic will select thirty new students every year from each of the nineteen IITs. Starting from 30 scholars in FY 15-16, the count would reach to 120 scholars by 2018-19. Panasonic strongly believes that this scholarship program will be able to provide some of the bright and outstanding students an opportunity to gain the financial support and access to higher education in India's prestigious institute.
